Cox, Gordon and Price Receive Awards for Distinguished Achievement
WPA is excited to announce Mel will be receiving the Award for Distinguished Achievement from AIA Virginia, along with Al Cox, FAIA and Christopher Gordon, AIA.
In citing Mel’s accomplishments, the award selection panel references WPA’s efforts in transparent firm management, pro-bono service as an integral part of practice, community focus, and working to secure Norfolk’s future championed by Mel and Thom as a firm philosophy. With special thanks to Mel’s sponsor Georgie Marquez for reminding Mel to “do good and advance those initiatives that your heart fully believes in.” It is because of this open commitment to community that our team has been able to grow with that same guiding principle through resilience projects like the Elizabeth River Project’s Resilience Lab and the National Disaster Resilience Competition, community projects like the Elizabeth River Trail, The Plot and OpenNorfolk, and a community growth business incubator, Selden Market.
