This period home in an established Norfolk neighborhood had a traditional floorplan that stacked rooms off a central corridor. The result was that one side of the house was bathed in light, while the other was quite dark. Designers removed a large, non-load-bearing wall to expose an original chimney, opening up the space. The new kitchen space is spacious and bright, and the house functions more efficiently.
