An innovative solution utilizing modular construction gives a fresh look to the Pinecrest campus and provides a much-needed Lower School facility complete with six classrooms for preschoolers through first-graders, a language lab, library, playroom and administrative offices. Classrooms for each grade level are clustered around central gathering spaces. The cross-axis floor plan, combined with playful finishes to highlight focal areas, encourages interaction among students and staff. The building was designed to be constructed by a modular building manufacturer in order to reduce construction time. The building was constructed in sections off-site, and delivered to the site and assembled over a site-built foundation. A sloped roof, with an attic for additional storage, is constructed above the modular units. Completed in 2017, the new building relates to the existing Upper School next door, with an updated space for outdoor learning in between.
