Conceived as a dynamic, contemporary beach house, this duplex maximizes a narrow, tree-lined lot overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. The three-story structure is linearly aligned, with an entrance to one unit and both garages positioned along the long axis of the east side, allowing for a more formal building front facing the street to the south.
Tall, window-filled staircases connect all floors, bringing natural light deep into the main second-floor living areas while preserving views of the existing live oaks. Framed east- and west-facing views of the bay are abundant, and multiple decks provide easy outdoor access from nearly every room.
Each unit features a two-car garage, four bedrooms, 3.5 baths, a rooftop deck, and more than 2,500 sf of habitable space. To achieve the client’s vision, the design-build team of WPA and Green Build It collaborated extensively on design approaches and sustainable site strategies—from schematic design through construction.
