PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Conceived as a dynamic contemporary beach house, this duplex makes the most of a narrow, tree-lined lot overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. The structure is a three-story linearly aligned duplex. An entrance to one unit and both garages are located on the long axis of the east side allowing for a more formal building front at the street on the south side. Tall, window-filled staircases connect all floors and bring light deep into the main second floor living areas, while allowing for views of the existing live oaks. Framed east and west views of the bay are plentiful, and multiple decks make outdoor enjoyment just a few steps from any room. Each unit has a two-car garage, four bedrooms, 3.5 baths, rooftop decks, and more than 2,500 square feet of habitable space. To meet the client’s vision, the design-build team of WPA and Green Build It collaborated extensively on design approaches and sustainable site strategies from schematic design through construction.
