Downtown Norfolk Pilot Parklet Project

Street View_W

WPA teamed up with Blueridge General Contractors for a fun design-build project for the Downtown Norfolk Council. The DNC worked with the City of Norfolk to write guidelines for a pilot parklet program. The WPA/Blueridge Parklet will be built off-site and installed in front of MacArthur square. Once streetscape improvements have been completed for the new Slover Library, the Parklet will move up the street and park in front of 3 Way Café and the WPA studio, providing additional outdoor seating for anyone to use.

Duck Donuts

3030 construction sign_webOn a stretch of Virginia Beach Blvd. spotted with car dealerships and office/retail strip malls near the Kings Grant neighborhood, this new commercial duplex began construction in late October. The building features a drive thru for Duck Donuts, large glass storefronts, and a contemporary exterior clad in brick and fiber cement panels. WPA with Homeland Construction are collaborating with GET Solutions , McPherson Design Group and WPL in this exciting design-build project. Construction is expected to be completed in January.

Thom of WPA and his sister Marissa of Studio Posy are featured in the Fall Edition 2013 of Distinction Magazine. A big thank you goes out to Mike Hixenbaugh  for his thoughtful writing and to Eric Lusher  for the wonderful photography. The photo shoot took place just after our studio expansion and renovations were complete; we are excited to have this moment in time captured in such a good light. Copies of the magazine are available at local Barnes & Noble and Harris Teeter stores or it can be ordered here.
